Suzanne Porth-Cotton, Ed.D. is proud to be an Lawson alumna and resident of the Lawson community and has been with the Lawson School District for 29 years. She began her post secondary studies at Northwest Missouri State University where she received a Bachelor of Science in Art Education. Wanting to offer more to her students she completed her Masters in Secondary Administration from William Woods University and went on to complete her Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Baker University. Serving as the Library Media Specialist and providing access to resources for the school community based on learning needs and interests has been the "icing on the cake" for Suzanne. Having the privilege to work in the Lawson R-XIV District with it's fantastic students, faculty, staff and parents IS the CAKE!
Roberta Duley, brings 12 years of experience working with our students as a paraprofessional in the Lawson R-XIV District. The last two years, working as a Librarian, she has been a tremendous aide to our students and community members in the Library Media Center (LMC). With mystery books as her "first love" Roberta is a great resource for recommendations of what to read next! Additionally, as a bonus to our patrons, she is our resident professional in all things yarn! Roberta offers free workshops in the LMC the second Saturday, October through April, with technical assistance in crochet and knitting in a warm and friendly group setting. Roberta is an integral part of the library team. Her background knowledge has been instrumental for the successful progress of our LMC.
Since we are a Community Library we have extended evening and weekend hours to meet the needs of both our students and adult patrons. Serving the community during these hours the LMC is placed in the knowledgable hands of Barbara Sloop and Julie Pettz. Each experienced elementary teachers, they joined our team in the Fall of 2015 and brought the love of reading and children with them! Making library visitors feel welcome comes natural for Barbara and Julie. In the quiet evening Library hours you may find them striking up a spirited conversation with others and being helpful in their friendly way.
